Pulse makes it easier for everyone in the company to do a great job
After all, this is the very aim of an employee survey. We developed Pulse to solve a problem we were facing. Our employee survey was painfully long, the results did not lead to action, and noticeable improvements were the exception. We could not find a better way, so we developed Pulse.
The right information: current drivers and hurdles
With Pulse, you can uncover what makes it easier or harder for people at the company to do a good job. The specially created «Pulse question» brings to light all topics that are currently important to employees.
The best format: written feedback
Written feedback is a reliable way to get a broad understanding of the submitted evaluations and to identify causes. There are two free-text fields per question (“I like that...” and “I wish that...”), as well as a few tricks to obtain as many constructive comments as possible. It works: Pulse generates almost ten times as many comments as a classic survey.
Doing a survey with no follow-up is worse than doing nothing at all. And yet only 8% of employees strongly agree that their employer takes action on survey results.

At the right time: in real time
Companies are undergoing changes faster and faster. Employee feedback therefore has a short “use-by date”. Current topics should be recognised and treated as they come up. That's why the results of Pulse are visible in real-time, immediately after the survey has been completed.
To the right person: team-level focus
The employee's feedback is best understood by colleagues in their immediate work environment. These are the people who are in a position to understand the context behind the comments, to identify fundamental causes, and to put in place impactful improvements.
That is why the feedback must be made available to everyone in the company and in a format that can lead to fruitful discussion and active application of improvements. For this reason, Pulse comments are shown with the author's name and picture to immediate team members, and in anonymous form to everyone else.
Pulse is bottom-up, not top-down
Unlike classic employee surveys, Pulse takes a bottom-up and not a top-down approach. This means that employees are not just asked questions, but rather they are actively involved in working with the results. They discuss the feedback in their team and define what they would like to see changed, and how.
Instead of writing a wishlist for Santa Claus, they shape the way they work together and the environment in which they do so - in whatever way makes most sense for them. They only turn to management if they find themselves faced with obstacles they cannot get past by themselves (e.g. company-wide tools or procedures), usually with concrete proposals already in hand.
With Pulse everybody works towards improving
